Scott County Humane Society ~ www.kypets.com
Scott County Humane Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, volunteer run organization,
that strives to eliminate euthanasia of cats and dogs in Scott County, Kentucky
through lifesaving programs in spay/neuter, rescue, foster and adoption, and
community education.
Scott County Humane Society does not have a facility, and we are not the Scott
County Animal Shelter. We rely 100% on foster homes to house our adoptable
animals until they find their forever homes!
In cooperation with Kentucky Humane Society and S.N.I.P clinic, low-cost
and free spay/neuter of cats and dogs happen each week! Call (502) 863-3279
for more information and to schedule an appointment. More than 1000 cats and
dogs benefitted from this program in 2007! Offer monthly free spay/neuter for
barn, feral and stray cats in Scott County during monthly clinics run by our
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Program. More than
700 free-roaming cats were altered in 2007! Our cat and dog foster-adoption
programs place homeless pets facing euthanasia at our county shelter into volunteers
homes. These foster homes nurture each
adoptable cat or dog, address behavior issues and ensure each adoptable pet
is FULLY vetted before going to its adoptive home. Each Saturday our volunteers
are at the Scott County Animal Shelter from 10AM to 3PM, walking dogs, playing
with kitties and always happy to talk with
you about adopting a homeless pet. The shelter is located at 1185 Cardinal
Drive off of highway 25 North in Georgetown. The shelter is NOT the Scott
County Humane Society. SCHS assisted in the passing of a mandatory spay/neuter
ordinance for cats and dogs adopted from Scott County Animal Shelter, and also
supports legislative
measures to improve the condition of state run animal shelters in Kentucky. Since
2004, Scott County Humane Society has participated in the PetSmart Charities "Rescue
Waggin'". This program transports about 20 dogs and puppies each month
across the country to other shelters where they can find homes. Our "Kind
Kids Program educates children about proper care and treatment
of animals. Our adoptable felines make a weekly appearance on Saturdays at the
PetSmart in Lexington at Hamburg Pavilion. Adoptable dogs visit the Tractor Supply
Store in Georgetown on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.
You can contact
us at 502-863-3279 for more information about any of our programs or adoptable
animals.
Paws, Claws & More is a new rescue group in the Paducah area, but we are made up of seasoned rescuers who have saved hundreds of animals either as individuals or with other rescue groups. PCM is made up of volunteers only. We have no paid staff.
Our goal is to save animals and find them great, loving homes. When we rescue an animal, we have certain vetting requirements that the pet must adhere to before getting adopted out. This includes spay or neuter, vaccinations, worming and treatment for parasites.
We turn over our animals to no-kill shelters so that they may find homes or
we adopt them out ourselves. We sometimes transport our rescued animals to
shelters in areas where spay/neuter laws are more strict, as these areas don't
have as many strays and abandoned animals as the Paducah area does.
a prive, non-profit organization, advocates the
humane treatment of companion animals through leadership and proactive solutions
to pet overopopulation, including adoptions, education and spay/neuter efforts.
As the area's number one resource for pets and pet services. KHS offers adoptions,
behavior training, animal rescue, spay/neuter efforts, boarding, grooming,
Doggie Daycare, in-home pet sitting, humane education programs and summer
camp for kids. For more information, visit www.kyhumane.org or call (502) 366-3355.
Also, we do offer behavior training classes and wanted to see if we could
submit to you some information on those to be listed somehow on the site.
Again, thanks
so much for including us and being such a wonderful friend to the animals!
Holly’s Place Animal
Rescue
Holly’s Place Animal Rescue is dedicated to helping solve the problem
of homeless dogs and cats and improving the quality of life for all companion
animals. Holly’s Place works closely with humane societies, animal
shelters, and rescue groups to help insure a brighter future for our animal
friends.
We generally focus on pulling dogs & cats from shelters when their time
is up, and we concentrate on training & socialization in foster care
prior to rehoming.
Financial assistance for spay/neuter is available to the public as well.
With millions of animals being euthanized in shelters every year, spay/neuter
is the single most important aspect to animal welfare. If rescue & adoption
is a bandaid, then spay/neuter is the surgery. Both are needed in our opinion.
Holly's Place incorporated in and became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
in 2002.
Estill County Animal Shelter, in Irvine, KY. Regretfully we are a kill shelter. but trying so hard to make a difference. Last yr. 1,985 only 187 adopted, but 420 rescued, still all the others were euthanized. We are a small non-profit county run shelter that takes in 4 other counties. We are rescue friendly. If that dog or pup is in danger, we have a site on petfinders.com just look for Ravenna, KY. We try to preach a spay and neuter, to bring down the pet population. Any one can feel free to e-mail us. Thank you for being there for the unwanted little ones that did not ask to be here in the first place.
A Voice For Animals is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3), animal welfare organization formed in 2003 to improve the quality of life for companion animals in South Central Kentucky through education and promotion of spay/neuter programs. These are our current programs:
Feral Cat Colony Management, volunteers are maintaining 9 colonies in Bowling Green area.
Fostering Program for rescues
Free Spay/Neuters, for low-income pet owners
Kind News, a classroom newspaper for kids 5-12. We funded 179 classrooms for this school year.
Kroger Rebate Program-AVFA sells Kroger Gift Cards and receives 4% rebate on purchases made with the card.
Pets In Need, a grant program to assist pet owners and Good Samaritans with veterinary care for a pet with a catastrophic illness or injury.
Save A Litter, this program is currently on hold until our last litter of puppies are adopted.
We hold monthly adoption days at Petco in Bowling Green and we are having our first adoption day at a new pet supply shop, Pet Dreams in Greenwood Mall, on Jan. 26. You can view our adoptable pets at www.foranimals.petfinder.org.
It is our hope that education, especially promotion of spay/neuter and proper
care for animals will have an impact on reducing abuse and neglect of animals.
We hold monthly meetings with educational presentations. Guests are always
welcome.
