SHINGILANA RESCUED FELINES

We are a small feline rescue based in Germantown, MD [Montgomery County]. The name of the group is SHINGILANA RESCUED FELINES. Shingilana means "little lion" in some African dialect, but not sure which one.

Although at times we have posted different animals like dogs, bunnies, + gerbils, we typically take cats + kittens from highkill shelters, feral colonies, farms, etc, but basically do not take in owner give-ups. We take only up to capacity of our foster homes. Since we do not have a shelter building as such, all animals live w people in their homes, which provides a great opportunity to learn more about each cat individually, in terms of what would be a good family for each one.

Part of our mission is also to educate adopters about ways to keep their animals healthy, with respect to environment, nutrition, veterinary care [recommend moderation only!], and emotional life. We will work with owners undergoing behavioral problems in their homes to help find a resolution.

We will also courtesy post animals that are in desperate need of finding homes when we can't offer a foster home for them. Our process involves an application, interview, home visit, contract, and donation. All this is detailed on our homepage, however.

We rescue dogs and cats of all ages, sizes, and breeds, but the thing that they all have in common is that they were all rescued from deadly situations. There are 7 million homeless pets in America. Help us help them by donating or applying to adopt a pet today!

MAS Rescue

We operate a small rescue organization that is determined to help unwanted shelter animals whose time has run out, and their destiny is deemed perilous. Maryland Animal Sanctuary & Rescue Organization is supported by a select few volunteers who have the same passionate desire to save as many shelter animals as possible. Some animals come from local shelters and others form distant shelters, still others are displaced homeless animals found wandering the streets. All the animals are "fostered" out of volunteer's homes. They are socialized with children, other animals, and are exposed to normal family life. We take each animal for a vet check, have them vaccinated, de-wormed ect... If an animal is 22 weeks or more they will always be altered. We require an adoption application, a signed contract and a fee. We will complete a 2 week follow-up and a 6 month follow-up including veterinarian follow-up on your new companion. If you are interested in adopting any of our furry four-legged friends, e-mail us for an adoption application. Please keep in mind : WE will not ship animals, but will consider reasonable transport for the perfect home! The animals hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for considering adoption from a rescue organization!

ABOUT CARA

" Opening doors for homeless animals"
We are a network of about four dozen animal-loving humans who are dedicated to rescuing cats and dogs, making sure they receive the care they need, and finding them caring homes. Many of us are very experienced in animal rescue and have been involved in other rescue groups. Several of us have experience in trapping and neutering feral cats; we support this method for population control. Some of us are new to rescue work. We also support efforts to educate the public about animal care and related issues. We are an approved 501(c)3 charitable organization.
