The goal of the shelter is a simple one, to find loving homes for pets brought
to us. Or find the owners of lost animals. Achieving that goal, with any margin
of success, is not so simple. It takes hard work and money to feed and house
the animals until we can place them in caring homes. Hopefully for most the
shelter means a new lease on life in a new home, with a caring family. The
shelter is only half of the solution to an ever growing problem. The other
half of the solution is composed of volunteers, sponsors and most importantly,
adoptive families. Also to educate the public on the intelligent and humane
treatment of animals.

Shelter to Home, Inc. is an animal rescue organization that works to save impounded animals in the Downriver Area of Metro-Detroit by placing them into a home foster care setting until permanent and loving homes can be found.
Goals:
· To find loving and permanent homes for adoptable animals from shelter/pound facilities
· To further reduce the unnecessary euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals in shelter/pound facilities
· To further reduce the overpopulation of animals in the Downriver area by assisting in the rescue and placement of impounded animals
· To inform and educate citizens about responsible, humane treatment of companion pets and the importance of spay/neuter procedures, programs and policies
Please note: We DO NOT accept owner surrendered animals into our rescue program. Currently we are only saving impounded animals in the Downriver community, where euthanasia rates are very high.

The Missaukee Humane Society of Lake City , Michigan
We are a no-kill facility, established in 1989. The Missaukee Humane Society's mission is to benefit animals by providing education, guidance and shelter as needed in order to support a safe, healthy and nurturing environment for animals. Our commitment is to serve as a partner in creating and sustaining this environment for animals both in the shelter as well as in the community. Our goal is that each animal lives in a healthy and safe home that is most capable of meeting that animal's needs. We will provide shelter for each animal in our care until such a home is found. We will provide ongoing support as needed throughout their lifetime. Our services are designed toward helping the community feel confident in making an informed decision regarding their choices. When they choose to relinquish their animal, we help them successfully cope with their feeling of loss by providing assurance that their animal will be safe until there is an opportunity for the animal to be placed in a new home. We will assist the community in achieving the goal of a happy, healthy and rewarding relationship with their pet in order to avoid having to relinquish their pet. We will provide them with referrals for education, veterinary help and support services as needed. We assist the adoptive owner in preparing for the joy and responsibility of adopting an animal by providing education and guidance on successfully meeting the challenges that are a natural part of the adoption process as they arise throughout the animal's life.

" House of Critters, located in southeast Michigan, is a small rescue that
works to find safe, happy, and healthy homes for animals in need. We are a no-kill,
not for profit rescue located in Oakland County. We support spay/neuter and
proper vetting of animals. Our adoption fees are very reasonable. Our rescues
are socialized with other animals, and we constantly evaluate their personalities."
Katy Bishop's Animal Friends was founded in February, 1996 and is a non-profit organization - a charity program run by volunteers. We are a 501 (c) 3 organization and your donation is fully tax deductible as far as the current law allows.
The group is named after Katy Bishop, a great animal person, who was taken from her family and friends at an early age, due to illness. We are located in Bay County, Michigan.
We provide all of our fosters with initial vet care. We are a small group
so there are only a few of us that can foster these animals in our homes. We
at this time foster both dogs and cats and we work with all fosters on an individual
basis.
Our mission statement
Our mission is helping homeless animals - both dogs and cats - with rescue
(both life-threatening and non-threatening situations), medical care, vaccinations,
fostering, rehabilitation and placement in permanent loving homes. To remove
said animals from breeding cycle through sterilization surgery, there by,
helping the community with pet over-population problem and maintaining good
health and safety practices for the animals through vaccinations against
diseases.
We find new homes for many wonderful dogs and cats of all ages and sizes, both mixed breeds and purebreds. Our adoption procedures include screening and home visits of potential adopters. The organization does not have a shelter so pets are housed in private foster homes where they receive loving care until they are adopted into responsible and loving homes.
All donations go directly to aid animals in need. Expenses are kept to a minimum.
We may not be able to change the world but we can change the life of each dog
or cat that we rescue.
Ingham County Animal Shelter
acshelter@ingham.org
http://www.ingham.org/AC/HOME.htm
Ingham County Animal Control endeavors to protect people from the perils that result from their interaction with domestic animals. Furthermore we seek to protect animals from the neglect and abuse inflicted upon them in violation of current laws. We continue our efforts through education and enforcement working toward a community where the quality of life for man or animal is not negatively affected by the other.
We are located in Michigan, but will adopt out of state. We rescue English Pointers that are out of time at shelters. English Pointers make great pets - they are very active outdoors but couch potatoes indoors. They are also great with kids and cats in most cases (and we evaluate both of these). Our website is www.pointers.petfinder.com and includes a lot of information about the breed and our program.
A Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue.
We are a small rescue. We rescue dogs & cats
from all over the area. The animal in our rescue come from owner surrender,
strays found on the street, and we also pull dogs out of the animal canters,
that would have been put down because there was nobody to adopt them. We arrange
and pay for all vet care for them and rehab them. We then find forever homes
which are thoroughly screened prior to adoption. We are an all volunteer based
rescue that operates out of our individual homes. We rely on donations to keep
us going

that was started in early 1983. We are not funded by any organization or
group, but are a non-profit charity program run by volunteers. We are located
